Talent Search
What is Talent Search?
For students in sixth through 12th grade, the Talent Search program identifies students with potential and assists them in overcoming obstacles to pursuing higher education. Talent Search is committed to removing barriers to social and economic equality by supporting all participants in achieving their educational goals.
Why should you apply?
Talent Search will provide participants with a variety of free educational, cultural, and social programs, such as:
- Career exploration
- Study skills and individual tutoring
- Financial aid information and tips
- ACT/SAT fee waivers and prep
- Visits to college campuses
- Help with completing college admissions and financial aid applications
- Technology assistance
- Workshops for families of participants
And it is all free to accepted students!
Who is eligible?
Talent Search works primarily with students who would be the first in their family to complete a college degree and are from low-income households, but the we can provide services to any student needing help preparing for college. Virginia Tech's Talent Search program currently serves students who attend the following schools:
