Upward Bound Summer Component

Live on Virginia Tech's campus for up to six weeks!

Experience college life during our Upward Bound Summer Component. Through college-level classes and living on campus, you'll get the tools and confidence to succeed.

• Take elective courses such as criminology, visual arts, creative writing, engineering, and more.
• Participate in cultural experiences and college tours.
• Get the opportunity to be placed in classes to prepare you for your upcoming year's class lineup. (Classes are not graded and are based on project-based learning.)

Join us for Virginia Tech Summer Start with Upward Bound.

The Summer Start is designed specifically for new college freshmen to experience campus life six weeks before the fall semester starts. 

Why attend?

• Participants will take two college-level courses (6 credits) that can be transfered to the institution of your choice.
• Students can build strong friendships with other new students.
• You can choose a track that interests and excites you while also experiencing challenges beyond the classroom.
• Students will also participate in social events and weekend events.
